Meghan Markle wore the same butterfly earrings on Friday that her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, wore in 1986.

The “Suits” star showcased the gold stud earrings during the second day of her four-day visit to Colombia with her husband, Prince Harry, who is the son of Diana and King Charles III.

Diana and Charles are also the parents of Harry’s older brother, Prince William.

Markle, 42, wore the meaningful earrings while visiting Colegio La Giralda school in Bogotá's Santa Fe neighborhood. During her visit, she spoke Spanish with a kindergarten class, toured the school, and joined an art session.

Princess Diana, who passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997 at the age of 36, had worn the butterfly earrings during a trip to Canada with Charles in May 1986, when Prince Harry was still a toddler.

The choice to wear these earrings for a school visit was particularly appropriate, given that Diana had worked as a kindergarten teacher in London before becoming a royal.

Markle paired the earrings with a simple outfit: a white button-down blouse tucked into skinny black trousers, complemented by a beige coat and matching flats.

She styled her hair in a bun, allowing the earrings to be prominently displayed.

Markle appears to favor these delicate earrings, having worn them on two previous occasions.

She first wore the family heirloom in Australia in October 2018, shortly after announcing her and Harry's pregnancy with their first child.
