Another urban flood warning issued

Authorities in major K-P cities told to stay alert

PESHAWAR:

A weather advisory issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authoity has warned that urban flooding may occur in major cities as the monsoon clouds continue to rain down their content on Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating southern and central parts of the country. A westerly wave is also affecting western/upper parts.

Mainly partly cloudy and humid weather is expected over most parts of the province. Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Buner Kohistan, Torghar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mohmand Peshawar, Khyber, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Tank, DI Khan, South and North Waziristan districts.

The PDMA has warned of flooding in main cities of the province, while there are also alerts for possible landslides in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra and Abbottabad districts. In addition, thunder or hail storms may may damage loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels etc. All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert during the forecast period.

Rain Recorded in (mm): DI Khan 60, Malamjaba 35, Kohat 30, Kakul, Balakot 13, Bannu 10, Khaar Bajaur 09, Peshawar Airport and Saidu Sharif 04 (each), Dir 03, Takht Bhai and Mohmand Ghalani 02 (each), Timergara, Cherat, Risalpur and Buner 01 (each). Today's highest maximum temperature was 420 in DI Khan.
