50 Cent discusses wealth, says he’s in no rush to become a billionaire

In an exclusive interview with US Weekly on August 14, 2024, 50 Cent, also known as Curtis James Jackson III, shed light on his relationship with money, expressing that he isn’t in any hurry to achieve billionaire status. 

The rapper, who has been a dominant figure in the hip-hop industry for decades, claimed that he has already surpassed his own expectations and is no longer driven by the pursuit of wealth.

"I’m not in a hurry to reach billionaire status. I’ve reached a point where I don’t want anything I don’t have. What's the rush to get to that point? I’ve bought every car I wanted, multiple times over," he stated.

The comments sparked a wide range of reactions online, with many netizens praising the rapper for his grounded perspective on wealth. 

"That’s what the real definition of wealth is supposed to be," one user commented, while another added, "Well said, what purpose does it serve to obtain that level of wealth? There’s so much more to life, the evolution of 50 Cent has been dope to watch." 

Others highlighted the rapper’s journey, noting that his mindset reflects a mature approach to life beyond just financial success.

However, not all responses were positive. 

Some critics pointed out that 50 Cent’s current net worth, reportedly around $40 million according to Celebrity Net Worth as of April 2024, is far from billionaire territory. 

"He’s not even close to being a billionaire anyway," one tweet read, with another stating, "Damn 50, after all that, he’s still not a billionaire."

Despite the mixed reactions, 50 Cent’s career achievements speak for themselves. 

The Queens-born rapper made his mark with his debut album 'Get Rich or Die Tryin’' in 2003, which remains the best-selling rap debut album of all time. 

Last year, his 'Final Lap Tour' celebrating the album’s anniversary grossed over $100 million.

Beyond music, 50 Cent has successfully ventured into film production and various brand partnerships, further solidifying his status as a multifaceted entertainer.

Reflecting on his wealth, 50 Cent emphasized that being a billionaire wouldn’t drastically change his life. 

"Being a billionaire won’t be much different from where I am now. At that point, you have to figure out how to give back. You start building a legacy, doing more sophisticated things," he explained. 

He also expressed that his true wealth comes from being surrounded by good people, indicating that his definition of being "very rich" extends beyond financial terms.

If 50 Cent were to join the billionaire club, he would become the fourth figure in hip-hop to do so, following in the footsteps of Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Diddy. 

However, for now, the rapper seems content with focusing on legacy-building rather than chasing after more zeros in his bank account.
