Seven terrorists killed in Kurram IBO

President, PM appreciate professionalism of security forces

Security force eliminated seven terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Kurram district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from their hideout, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday.

According to the media wing of the military, five more terrorists were injured in the effective engagement of the terrorist location. It added that the terrorist hideout was "busted and a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was recovered".

The ISPR said that the dead terrorists were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as the innocent civilians. "The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country," the statement added.

"Sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other kharji (outcasts) found in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country," the statement added.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated the professionalism shown by the security forces for the successful operation and paid tribute to them.

According to a press release from the President House's media wing, Zardari reiterated the national commitment to eliminate terrorism from the country.

"The entire nation is with the security forces for the total eradication of terrorism," the president said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the efforts and said that the entire country paid tribute to the officers who engaged in "performing their duties without caring for their lives for the integrity of Pakistan".

According to a post on state-run PTV's X account, the premier stated that the forces were working "day and night to cleanse" the country of Fitnah Al Khawarij.

"The entire nation stands by the side of the Pakistan Army in its determination to cleanse the soil of the homeland from the menace of terrorism," Shehbaz said.

Also, Punjab police successfully repulsed an attack by terrorists at an inter-provincial post in Dera Ghazi Khan, police said on Thursday.

Around 50-60 terrorists attacked Likhani police post at the Punjab-KP boundary in DG Khan from all four directions.

However, police managed to identify their presence by thermal image cameras and attacked the terrorists by machine guns and mortar guns forcing them to retreat.

Regional Police Officer DG Khan Captain (Retired) Sajjad Hassan Khan led the operation. IGP Dr. Usman Anwar said that Elite Force and Quick Reaction Force (QRF) back up teams immediately rushed to the check post while DPO Dera Ghazi Khan Syed Ali, leading elite force teams, reached Triman post from where he supervised the operation against terrorists. SHO PS Vehoa and his team has also reached the police post, IGP said.
