Sofia Vergara responds to ex-husband Joe Manganiello's denial about divorce reasons
Sofía Vergara is addressing her ex-husband Joe Manganiello's denial that their divorce was caused by differing opinions on having children.
Vergara, who has an adult son from her previous marriage, mentioned earlier this year in an interview that the reason for their split was Manganiello's desire to have children, while she did not share the same view.
However, Manganiello recently told Men’s Journal that Vergara's explanation is “simply not true.”
“At the end of the day, you never even know if that’s what he said for real,” Vergara told Variety on Wednesday.
“I’ve read a lot of things that I’ve said that I’m like, ‘Huh?’ What am I gonna do, call him? I don’t know if he even said that.”
Page Six reported in July 2023 that the couple was ending their seven-year marriage, with their divorce officially finalized in February.
Since then, the 52-year-old actress has found joy, partly due to her favorite mantra: “Don’t think too much.”
“When you sit too much with your thoughts, that’s when people get depressed and people get paralyzed,” she shared with Variety. “I always keep active. What the f–k can we do? Nothing. We have to keep living.”
Vergara mentioned to El País in January that her marriage ended because her younger husband wanted children, while she was not interested in becoming an older mother.
“I feel it’s not fair to the baby,” she explained at the time.
The "Modern Family" actress emphasized that, while she respects those who choose to have children later in life, that path is simply "not for [her] anymore."
