US gave Tehran list of Mossad agents linked to Haniyeh’s killing: report

A Kuwaiti newspaper, al Jarida, on Wednesday reported that a high-ranking security delegation from the United States secretly travelled to Tehran, mediated by Oman.

Citing an unnamed source within Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the paper claimed that the delegation's visit aimed to ease tensions amid recent assassinations linked to Israel.

According to Israeli outlet Jerusalem Post, which cited al Jarida's report, the delegation allegedly provided Iran with a list of ten Mossad agents believed to be operating within the country. The agents were suspected of involvement in recent assassinations, including that of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

The alleged exchange is described as a “good faith” gesture by the US following Israel’s strikes that killed Fuad Shukr in Beirut and Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Al Jarida suggested that the US was distancing itself from these strikes, implying they were carried out without Washington’s coordination.

Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, was assassinated on July 31 in Tehran while attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president. A missile strike targeted the building where he was staying, marking a bold escalation in the Israeli-Hamas conflict.

Just hours earlier, Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. His death has been linked to recent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, reportedly in retaliation for a rocket attack that claimed several lives in the Golan Heights.

These high-profile killings have escalated tensions in the region, with Iran and Hezbollah both vowing revenge.
