Sibling recovery: IHC summons officials
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has approved post-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) International Media Coordinator Ahmed Waqas Janjua in a terrorism case, and granted protective bail to another PTI social media activist Sanam Javed in a case registered against her in Mianwali.
The IHC summoned the defence and interior secretaries, the inspector general of the Islamabad police and the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over non-compliance of the court order for the recovery of the two brothers of PTI leader Azhar Meshwani.
IHC Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb issued a two-page written order in the case of the recovery of the Meshwani brothers. The court said that non-compliance of its order of August 9 was contempt of the court. The court ordered the Attorney General for Pakistan to appear in court today.
According to the written order, the court directed the defence secretary, the interior secretary, the Islamabad IG, and the FIA DG to appear in the court in person on August 15 (tomorrow) and explain why the contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated.
