Governor says nation in high spirits; Change of Guard ceremony held at Quaid's Mausoleum

Change of the Guard ceremony was held at the Mausoleum of the Founder of the Nation on the occasion of country's 77th Independence Day.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy cadets assumed the guard duty at the Mausoleum. The Pakistan Navy band played the national anthem.

Sindh governor, chief minister, members of the provincial cabinet, and representatives from the three armed forces visited the mausoleum, laid floral wreaths, and recited Fateha.

Special ceremonies were organised at the mausoleum to mark the biggest day of the country.

Commodore Muhammad Khalid, Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, was the chief guest at the ceremony, while Lt. Commander Ahmed Hasan was in charge of the parade. During the parade, the chief guest inspected the guards, who presented a national salute to Quaid-e-Azam. Following the parade, a flag hoisting ceremony took place at Jinnah's Mausoleum. Governor, chief minister, cabinet members, and ambassadors from various countries attended the ceremony. Schoolchildren sang the national songs.

Speaking to the media, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori acknowledged Pakistan's current economic crisis but emphasised that the nation's spirit remains as high as it was in 1947. He mentioned Arshad Nadeem's gold medal win in the Olympic Games, highlighting that the entire nation is celebrating this victory together, proving that Pakistanis do not forget those who have sacrificed for the country.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah remarked that those spreading despair are harming the country and will not succeed in their designs. He stressed that such people are doing so for their personal and political gains. He called on the international community to take concrete steps to end the atrocities in Palestine and Kashmir, warning that failure to do so could erode people's faith.

Representatives of the three armed forces, opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Ali Khursheedi, DG Rangers Sindh Major General Azhar Waqas, IG Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, Vice Admiral (retd) Athar Mukhtar, Chairma KPT, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chairman of NIRC, members of the Karachi Bar Association, Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association of Pakistan, and family members of the founder of Pakistan visited the Jinnah's Mausoleum.

Mayor says rain preps in place

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that Pakistan is our future, and we must put it on the path to development. Muslims fought a great struggle under the leadership of Pakistan's founder, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and this homeland was established based on his ideology. We will all work together to lead the country towards development and prosperity.

Wahab expressed these views while speaking to media representatives after citizens of Karachi laid a wreath on Quaid-e-Azam's mausoleum on the occasion of Independence Day and recited Fatiha. Accompanying him were Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Municipal Commissioner SM Afzal Zaidi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dal Muhammad, Mayor Karachi's spokesperson for political affairs Karamullah Waqasi, elected local body representatives, and heads of KMC departments.
