Pakistan's Olympic hero, Arshad Nadeem, recently took to social media to send out a heartfelt Independence Day message to his fellow Pakistanis.

The nation’s star athlete, who brought home a historic gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the Paris Olympic Games, used this occasion to appeal for unity and national pride.

In his message, Arshad passionately said, "On Pakistan's Independence Day, I appeal to the people of Pakistan to take a pledge on this day that we stay united. Just like on August 8th, after I won gold at the Paris Olympics, we saw a wave of joy not only in Pakistan but among Pakistanis worldwide. I hope you stand by me, and like I’ve changed my profile picture on social media for August 14th, I want all of you to do the same. Let's show the world that 'United we stand.'"

However, this is the second time Arshad has uploaded his Independence Day message. After posting the video the first time, Arshad realised that there was an unintended addition to his message—a background sound of someone snoring. Upon discovering the mishap, he deleted the video and shared a new one, this time without the distracting audio.

Despite his action, the original video had already gone viral on social media, with fans and followers sharing it widely and adding their own humorous reactions.

The incident brought a lighter, more relatable side to the athlete, endearing him even more to his supporters.

While the snoring sound may have sparked a viral moment, it did nothing to diminish the impact of Arshad’s message or his status as a national icon.

His incredible achievement in Paris has already earned him immense respect, as well as a Rs 150 million reward from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Pakistan’s sporting history.
