Kehlani obtains temporary restraining order against ex Javaughn Young-White amid abuse allegations
Kehlani, the singer known for hits like "After Hours," has been granted a temporary restraining order against their ex-partner Javaughn Young-White, following accusations of abuse. The restraining order, granted on Friday, comes amid an ongoing custody battle over their 5-year-old daughter, Adeya. According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Kehlani filed the request last week in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, detailing years of alleged physical, verbal, and emotional abuse by Young-White.
In their filing, Kehlani, who uses she/they pronouns, claimed that Young-White's abusive behavior began during their pregnancy and escalated in mid-June, when he allegedly became "enraged" and "smashed through [their] locked bedroom doors [in] a fit of anger." Kehlani described Young-White as having called them a "bitch" and "liar," accusing them of trapping him by having their child.
Kehlani also alleged that Young-White, who was living on their property at the time, was "smoking marijuana every day and all day" and using psychedelics. They further accused him of disappearing for months at a time, neglecting personal hygiene, and returning their daughter "filthy and reeking of marijuana" after visits. "He is not emotionally well and appears to suffer from periods of despair and often tirades of uncontrollable anger and rage," Kehlani wrote, adding that his behavior "scares" them and could be "very upsetting to a small child."
The restraining order is set to expire following a hearing scheduled for September 3. In response to the allegations, Young-White shared alleged text messages from Kehlani on social media, claiming they were framing him for abuse. Kehlani responded on Instagram, stating, "What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue."
Kehlani and Young-White dated from 2018 to 2019 and welcomed their daughter in March 2019.
