Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran wax figures unveiled at German museum to mixed reactions from fans
On August 13, the Panoptikum museum in Hamburg, Germany, unveiled new wax figures of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. The figures, which were intended to honor the two music stars, received mixed reviews from fans on social media. Some fans expressed surprise at the depictions, with one commenting on X (formerly Twitter), "They look so off I'm crying." Another joked about the likenesses, saying, "When ur mum says u have Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift at home."
Criticism continued with fans pointing out specific details, such as Ed Sheeran's figure, which one user noted, "Ed looks like his legs don't work like they used to before." Similarly, Taylor Swift's wax figure faced scrutiny, with a fan writing, "Omg they did her so dirty."
However, not all reactions were negative. Some fans praised the figures, with one user commenting, "Honestly really good renditions! Taylor's looks great!" Another added, "I bet the figures are super realistic and a must-see for any Swifties or Sheerios visiting the museum."
The Panoptikum, which is the oldest wax museum in Germany, expressed excitement over the addition of these two figures. In a press release translated from German, the museum stated, "With the wax figure of Taylor Swift, we are welcoming an absolute superstar to the Panoptikum." Dr. Susanne Faerber, the Managing Director, added, "August 13 is therefore a truly lucky day for our wax museum—although the number 13 is also of great importance to Taylor Swift herself and to her countless Swifties."
Ed Sheeran's figure holds special significance for the museum as it was the first wax figure created by sculptor Lisa Büscher and her team. They spent two years working on the sculpture, with Büscher noting the challenges, especially regarding Sheeran's intricate tattoos.
