Oil and gas: NA body briefed on OGDC operations

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination was informed on Friday that Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) was operating in each province of Pakistan. The OGDC managing director informed the committee that the company was utilising all available means to meet market expectations. He said that the company followed best management practices, used latest technology and did innovation for sustainable growth while being socially responsible. He said that the total area of exploration acreage in Pakistan was 278,475 square-kilometres, adding that 22 per cent (61,084 square-kilometres) of this area was under OGDC. He said that the company’s share in Pakistan’s total oil production was 56 per cent. He said that OGDC’s share in the country’s total gas production was 22 per cent. He informed the committee that the company had a trained and experienced human resource base, comprising 10,565 employees.
