Security forces thwart multiple grenade, gunfire attacks in Khyber District
Multiple gunfire and grenade attacks occurred at four locations in the Khyber tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. province on Independence Day.
The security forces responded and forced the terrorists to flee. The attacks resulted in no casualties among the security personnel.
According to police reports, the attacks took place in the Jamrud and Bara areas.
In the Jamrud area, the Sakhi Pul police post and the Jamrud Tehsil compound, which houses the Jamrud police station and various government offices, were targeted.
Terrorists used automatic weapons and grenades in their assault. However, the police’s heavy counter-offensive compelled the attackers to retreat.
In the Bara area, specifically in the Mandai Khas region, an FC (Frontier Corps) post came under attack.
Militants fired at the post, but FC personnel responded with equal force, causing the terrorists to flee.
In another incident, a police checkpoint in Mathra, Peshawar, was attacked with a grenade early in the morning around 7am.
The attack caused partial damage to the checkpoint, but no injuries were reported.
Despite the intensity of the attacks, all four incidents ended without any loss of life or injuries to the security forces.
The quick and effective response from the police and FC personnel ensured that the terrorists were unable to inflict any significant damage before they fled the scenes.
