Vegetable vendor robbed of Rs8.9m
Six armed robbers made off with Rs8.9 million from a wholesaler at gunpoint in a brazen daylight robbery at the vegetable market on Tuesday within the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station and fled.
This incident follows a similar robbery a week ago within the same jurisdiction, where Rs4.8 million was stolen. Police have yet to make any progress in that case or investigate an Rs10 million bank heist on GT Road within the limits of Hamak police station, even though CCTV footage is available.
On Monday, 22 incidents of street crime and theft were reported. The robbers got away with one car 16 motorcycles, cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.
In other incidents, four motorcycles, three mobile phones and cash were looted at gunpoint. A case of car theft was registered at Tarnool police station.
Motorcycles were stolen at gunpoint in the limits of Tarnool police station, Sangjani police station, Khanna police station and Hamak police station, while mobile phones and cash were stolen in the limits of Aabpara police station, Karachi Company police station and Sabzi Mandi police stations.
Armed robbers committed two house robberies and stole hundreds of thousands of rupees, jewellery, valuable household goods and prize bonds.
