People across Sindh are preparing to celebrate August 14 Independence Day with traditional zeal and fervour.

Towns and cities across the province were resonating with th sounds of national songs in Sindhi as well as in national language. Markets and temporary stalls were offering flags, badges, stickers and toy horns to announce the birth of the nation at the strike of the midnight between August 13 and 14.

All government buildings in Hyderabad and the rest of Sindh were adorned with buntings and lights. People in many neighbourhoods decorated their lanes with national flags while the star and the crescent was shining over many rooftops.

The people of Sukkur and surrounding regions in northern Sindh were gearing up to celebrate the anniversary of Pakistan's Independence Day with vibrant enthusiasm on Wednesday.

The city of Sukkur is adorned with colorful banners showcasing various slogans and heartfelt wishes from Mayor Arslan Shaikh, reflecting the spirit of this significant occasion.

In a special celebratory move, the Sukkur Municipal Corporation (SMC), in collaboration with the district administration, has organized a fireworks display at the Walking Track Ground, promising to light up the night sky in celebration.

The festive atmosphere extends beyond Sukkur, with residents of Khairpur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, and Kashmore-Kandhkot also preparing to join in the jubilations. Various political and religious parties are organizing numerous events leading up to Independence Day, fostering a sense of community and patriotism across the region.Trade unions, political factions, and religious organizations are arranging a series of gatherings in towns throughout Sindh.

National fervour grips Larkana

National songs echo in air as people buy flags, buntings badges and horns to mark Independence Day

On the eve of the Independence Day, the enthusiasm and the zeal soars among the people belonging to every walk of life in Larkana to celebrate the day.

Youth and children are especially showing their vigour, zeal and traditional enthusiasm to celebrate 14th August, the Independence Day of Pakistan.

The sale of national flags and other items, particularly the vuvuzela horn, is underway in full swing in all main bazaars of the Larkana city. Go to any market, road side, or a small mohallah shops, and the items most prominently displayed are small Pakistani paper flags, Badges, paper caps, buntings and even large flags.

"Children of course are most eager to buy these items," Farooq Shah, a shopkeeper of a stationary store on Bunder Road said.

A visit to main stationary and bookshops in Larkana city showed a great national fervour among the people, who were busy in buying different items to express their enthusiasm for celebrating the Independence Day.

In commercial areas shopkeepers have set up special stalls for flags and other items.

Naeem Soomro, a shopkeeper, said stickers and hand held Pakistani flags are most in demand.

The bazaars are decorated with national flags where stalls of colourful buntings, Pakistani flag buntings, portraits of Quaid-e-Azam and other national heroes had been set up and badges, caps, balloons and shirts inscribed with "Jashan-e-Azadi Mubarak" were stacked in large numbers.
