HYDERABAD:

Seeri police have launched an investigation following the arrest of Agha Zubair Pathan, a landlord accused of murdering eight-year-old Tahir Malah.

The child was killed while playing in a field on August 3. Pathan, who was previously granted interim bail in a separate case involving threats against Tahir's father, Mithu Malah, is now facing multiple charges.

On Sunday, the Seeri police arrested Pathan, who was on interim bail related to the threat case. The following day, Pathan was presented in court under heavy security before the civil judge and judicial magistrate No 7.

Sub-Inspector Arslan Latif Chana sought a 14-day remand for further interrogation into both the murder and the threats case. However, the court granted a three-day remand, extending until August 15.

Pathan was also allegedly found in possession of illegal weapons at the time of his arrest. Therefore, a separate case has been registered against him under Section 25 of the Sindh Arms Act. With this, the number of cases against Pathan has reached three. He is currently on interim bail until August 19 for the murder case.
