Rapper 2 Chainz sues LA cannabis dispensary for $1.5M, alleging investment scam
2 Chainz has taken legal action against a Los Angeles-based dispensary, Pineapple Express Hollywood, after claiming he was scammed out of $1.5 million.
The rapper, through his investment company, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that the cannabis company failed to return his investment as promised.
Initially, the dispensary was set to open by April 2021, but a series of delays pushed the opening date to March 2022.
According to 2 Chainz, he was offered the option to withdraw 110% of his investment with 30 days' notice, but the company did not comply with this agreement when he requested a return in May 2022.
The lawsuit also reveals that when 2 Chainz personally reached out to co-founder Vincent Zadeh in December 2022, he was informed that his return agreement would no longer be honored.
Reports indicate that several other investors and business partners have also taken legal action against Zadeh, with accusations including failing to file income taxes and owing nearly $1.69 million in back taxes.
Matthew Feinstein, co-founder of Pineapple Express, has refuted the lawsuit's claims, stating that they do not owe 2 Chainz any money.
While the original location has since closed, there are plans to reopen in September.
The rapper has yet to comment publicly on the lawsuit.
