Pakistan Railways will not run 'Jashan-i-Azadi' train - its hallmark on Independence Day - this year due to paucity of funds.

The Pakistan Railways has excused providing funds for the 'Jashan-i-Azadi' train as the entity is facing acute financial crisis.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Railways used to ply 'Jashan-i-Azadi' train every year as part of Independence Day celebration. The train would start its journey from Rawalpindi Railway Station and it would pass through all important railway stations of the country. The cultural floats from Sindh, K-P, Punjab, Balochistan, AJK and GB were on board the train.
