Gypsy-Rose's ex-husband Ryan says DNA test needed to determine paternity of her unborn child

Ryan Anderson reveals he must undergo a DNA test to determine paternity after Gypsy-Rose Blanchard announces pregnancy

Ryan Anderson, the estranged husband of Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, has disclosed that a DNA test is required to determine the paternity of Blanchard's unborn child. Anderson, 38, made the announcement during a TikTok livestream on August 10, the same day Blanchard, 33, and her boyfriend Ken Urker revealed they are expecting a baby girl.

Anderson explained that under Louisiana state law, a DNA test is necessary to establish paternity for separated couples who are still legally married. "I have to get a DNA test. I don't have a choice," Anderson stated, adding, "I hate being in this situation."

Blanchard, who married Anderson in 2022 while in prison, filed for divorce in April. She and Urker announced their pregnancy on July 9. According to Louisiana law, if a woman is married to someone other than the biological father when the child is conceived, or has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of birth, the husband or ex-husband is presumed to be the father unless paternity is established through DNA testing.

"If the husband goes and signs the affidavit along with the boyfriend, then the true father...will go on the birth certificate," Louisiana attorney Beau Brock explained to PEOPLE. Anderson emphasized that despite the legal complexities, he still has feelings for Blanchard, saying, "I’m always going to have love for [her]."

If DNA testing confirms that Urker is the biological father, his name will replace Anderson's on the baby's birth certificate. Anderson also addressed the social media criticism aimed at Blanchard, urging people to refrain from bashing her, stating, "If I’m not bashing her, why ya’ll need to?"
