Team USA's Jordan Chiles and Romania's Ana Barbosu are now in a heated dispute over the bronze medal.

The International Olympics Committee had originally awarded Chiles the bronze for her floor routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics but later decided to re-allocate it to Barbosu.

USA Gymnastics has since submitted new evidence to challenge the ruling that led to this decision.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, based in Switzerland, had overturned the inquiry that Chiles' coach made on August 5, which had initially raised Chiles’ score to third place over Barbosu.

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation argued that the coach's inquiry was submitted four seconds late, beyond the one-minute limit.

"USA Gymnastics formally submitted a letter and video evidence to the Court of Arbitration for Sport," the group said in a statement shared Aug. 11, "conclusively establishing that Head Coach Cecile Landi's request to file an inquiry was submitted 47 seconds after the publishing of the score, within the 1-minute deadline required by FIG [International Gymnastics Federation] rule."

USA Gymnastics stated in their letter submitted on August 10 that they have requested the Court of Arbitration for Sport to revise its ruling and reinstate Chiles' bronze-medal score of 13.766.

They also claimed that their "time-stamped, video evidence" shows that Landi submitted her request to file an inquiry 47 seconds after the score was posted, and that a second statement was made 55 seconds after Chiles' original score.

"The video footage provided was not available to USA Gymnastics prior to the tribunal's decision," USA Gymnastics added, "and thus USAG did not have the opportunity to previously submit it."
