NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq hails Balochistan's solar projects as crucial for 'climate action'

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has highlighted the critical role of solar energy projects in Balochistan as a strategic move in the fight against climate change.

Addressing the broader issue of climate change, Sadiq noted that Pakistan is among the most vulnerable countries globally and is taking continuous steps to combat the effects of climate change.

He mentioned that Pakistan's Parliament has the distinction of being the first green parliament in the world.

The Speaker commended the federal government's launch of multi-billion rupee solar energy projects in Balochistan, describing it as a crucial initiative in addressing climate change.

He also congratulated Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister's Coordinator on Climate Change, for organising the conference, expressing optimism that it would significantly contribute to Pakistan's sustainable development efforts.

Speaking at the Regional Parliamentarians Conference in Islamabad, Sadiq welcomed international and domestic dignitaries, including Japan's State Minister Toshiko Abe, and emphasised that achieving a green economy and sustainable development is not possible without fully empowering women.

Sadiq further addressed the importance of collective efforts in empowering women to meet sustainable development goals, noting the active role of Parliament in this mission.

He pointed out that the formation of the Gender Mainstreaming Committee within Parliament is a significant milestone in enhancing women's empowerment in Pakistan.

He also condemned the use of inappropriate language against women.
