LAHORE:

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that those whose hospitals, universities and colleges are closing down due to lack of funds in their own province are concerned about the hospitals in Lahore.

Responding to a statement of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif, she said universities are shutting down in K-P, employees are not being paid, medicines have become scarce and doctors are unavailable. She said the previous government in Punjab had stopped providing free medicines.

As soon as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz came to power, she resumed the provision of free medicines in all government hospitals, she said. She said the CM has initiated a programme to revamp all government hospitals. Soon, the people of Punjab will have access to quality healthcare.

The information minister said that before giving lectures on good governance, one should look at the hospitals and educational institutions in their own province. "In K-P, people are being given an anti-state narrative instead of quality education and healthcare," she added.
