BTS’ Suga to be summoned by police for investigation into DUI scooter incident
BTS member Suga is expected to be called in for questioning by the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul regarding allegations that he operated an electric scooter while intoxicated.
The incident, which occurred on August 6, came to light after Suga reportedly fell off his scooter near his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu.
According to police sources, the decision to summon Suga was made to further investigate the details surrounding the event, particularly the level of alcohol he had consumed. On the evening of the incident, a patrolling officer found Suga at the scene and administered a breathalyzer test. The test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.227%, significantly exceeding the legal limit for license revocation, which is set at 0.08%.
At the time of the incident, the police were unaware that Suga was a member of the globally renowned group BTS. Due to his intoxicated condition, they were unable to conduct a full investigation on-site and only performed the breathalyzer test before allowing him to return home.
As a result, police are now arranging a formal summons to obtain a detailed statement from Suga and to complete their investigation.
Suga, who began his mandatory military service in March at the Nonsan Training Center in South Chungcheong Province, is currently serving as a social service worker. His expected discharge date is June 2025.
