Sindh home minister praises the efforts of the CTD Larkana and intelligence agencies

KARACHI:

In a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO), the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other law enforcement agencies arrested two terrorists from a banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the Naudero area of Larkana.

The operation held on Saturday night, arrested terrorists who have been identified as Jamil Ahmed Sheikh and Salahuddin.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Hassan Lanjar praised the efforts of the CTD Larkana and intelligence agencies for successfully apprehending the terrorists and foiling a potential terror plot.

He commended their performance and urged them to maintain this level of vigilance to ensure a peaceful and secure Independence Day celebration.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), responding to the emerging security situation in the country, has carried out 78 intelligence-based operations across Faisalabad, Jhelum, and Chakwal, resulting in the arrest of three terrorists.

On July 3, a key operative of the Daesh terrorist group was apprehended in Faisalabad along with two other terrorists who were identified as Abdul Wahab, Saifullah, and Khurram Abbas.

A CTD spokesperson stated that explosive materials, including three detonators, an eight-foot safety fuse wire, two IED bombs, ammunition, weapons, mobile phones, and cash, were recovered from the terrorists.

Officials reported that the terrorists intended to carry out attacks at various locations to spread fear and panic among the public.

Meanwhile last month, the CTD Hyderabad claimed to have averted a probable terrorist attack planned during the Independence Day celebrations and arrested two suspects allegedly associated with the banned outfit - Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA).

The SSP CTD Hyderabad Syed Amir Abbas Shah told a press conference on Tuesday that a team of CTD, led by SHO Asif Hayat, which was heading for a raid was attacked in Kotri SITE area in Jamshoro district late on Monday night. According to him, three suspects Sajjan Malookani, Shaukat Malookani and Naeem Malookani, were involved in the attack.

The CTD later arrested Shaukat and Naeem while Sajjan escaped, compelling police to carry out a search operation in the proximate areas. During the encounter SHO CTD Hyderabad Asif Hayat sustained two gunshots on his bulletproof chest. He remained unscathed.

The SP claimed that Sajjan, who is a wanted terror suspect, and Shaukat carried out target killings and explosions on the directives of the top command of SRA including commander Mashooq Kambrani. Naeem is said to be a facilitator of the two suspects.
