Pindi imposes dengue emergency after 31 cases

The Rawalpindi administration has imposed a dengue emergency across the district after the number of dengue patients has reached 31.

Monsoon rains have also led to an increase in dengue patients and larvae, causing panic among officials. Medical experts have termed accumulated rainwater after rain as dangerous for the spread of dengue larvae.

Heavy dengue larvae were found in 711 residential properties and 156 open spots this month. Most dengue patients were reported from Rawal Town. The total number of dengue beds in Rawalpindi district hospitals is 108 and it has been decided to increase the beds in a phased manner.

A total of 28.9 million houses were checked in the Rawalpindi district this year and 15,520 of them were found to contain dengue larvae. Similarly, dengue teams checked 771,471 outdoor locations and spotted dengue larvae at 3,414 locations, which have been destroyed.

Since January 1 this year, 4,188 suspected dengue patients have been checked and dengue was found in 90 patients.
