Olympic Champion Arshad Nadeem’s homecoming schedule revealed

Record breaking Olympic gold medalist will be accompanied by the Chairman of South Asian Athletics.

The schedule for the return of Arshad Nadeem, who made history at the Paris Olympics, has been announced.

The gold medallist is set to arrive in Lahore at 1am, on Sunday, travelling via Istanbul.

He will be accompanied by the Chairman of South Asian Athletics, Muhammad Akram Sahi.

Arshad Nadeem etched his name in history with a groundbreaking performance at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Pakistani athlete to win a gold medal in javelin throw.

He made history by clinching the country’s first-ever track and field medal at the Olympics as he claimed gold in the men’s javelin final in Paris.

The 27-year-old dethroned defending champion Neeraj Chopra of India and broke the Olympic record at the Stade de France on Thursday.

"Arshad Nadeem has brought immense joy to the nation. His homecoming will be historic," said Akram Sahi.

Upon his return, a grand reception is planned for the champion, with his coach, Salman Butt, also returning alongside him.

The Athletics Federation of Pakistan is actively preparing for his arrival, while the Punjab Sports Board is also busy arranging a warm welcome for the national hero.

Last night, Nadeem was awarded the gold medal during a ceremony at the Athletics Stadium in Paris.

The 27-year-old athlete received a standing ovation from the crowd as he stepped up to the podium, proudly holding the gold medal aloft for the cameras.
