LAHORE:

Light to heavy rainfall was observed in various districts of Punjab, including the provincial capital Lahore, leading to a mix of pleasant weather and ongoing heat and humidity.

The unusual weather conditions have left the public confused. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for more rain in the coming days.

In Lahore, the day began with hide and seek between the sun and clouds, continuing until the afternoon when light to heavy showers were recorded in different parts of the city. However, some areas remained dry.

Despite the rain, the dry weather that followed increased the intensity of heat and humidity, leaving residents drenched in sweat.

The highest rainfall was recorded in Farrukhabad, with 25mm, while other parts of Lahore received 4 to 5mm of rain.

Although the weather became pleasant during the rain, the humidity and heat intensified as soon as the rain stopped.

District administration and WASA employees were seen in the field working on drainage, but due to the light rainfall, daily life in the city continued as usual.

According to the PDMA, monsoon rains are expected across Punjab from today until August 12. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in most districts of South Punjab on August 10 and 11. The PDMA spokesperson mentioned that monsoon rains are anticipated in divisions including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Gujrat.

The PDMA has issued an alert to the relevant administrations across the province regarding the weather situation.

All departments concerned have been put on high alert.

In anticipation of urban flooding, the authorities have been directed to complete all necessary preparations.

The PDMA has instructed commissioners, DCs, WASA, the Irrigation Department, Rescue, Civil Defense, and other relevant departments to stay alert. The PDMA control room is monitoring the situation 24/7.
