KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in a telephonic conversation, congratulated the Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on his extraordinary achievement of winning the gold medal and breaking the world record at the Olympics 2024.

The chief minister also extended an invitation for Arshad to visit Karachi as his guest.

He personally made the call to Arshad Nadeem, expressing his admiration for the athlete's record-breaking throw of 92.97 metres in the men's javelin final at the Paris Olympics. "You have made the nation proud", the chief minister said during the conversation.

During the call, the chief minister invited the javelin champion to visit Karachi, assuring him that the people of Sindh are eager to welcome him.

Nadeem expressed his gratitude for the chief minister's call and confirmed that he would visit Sindh soon and meet the chief minister at the CM House.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab also congratulated Arshad and announced that a reception in his honour will be held upon his return to the country.

He praised Nadeem for making the nation proud with his historic victory. "The entire Pakistani nation is delighted by his outstanding achievement. Arshad Nadeem not only secured this honour with the longest throw in Olympic history but also set another record with his final throw of 92.97 metres", Wahab said.

He also noted with pride that Pakistan competed against India in the Olympic javelin throw final, where India's renowned athlete Neeraj Chopra, who won gold in the last Olympics, was outperformed by Nadeem.

He emphasised that having Pakistan's name among the countries winning gold medals at the Paris Olympics is a good omen.

Furthermore, Sukkur Mayor, Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh, announced that Arshad Nadeem will be honoured with a gold crown, and the new sports stadium in Sukkur will be named after him to celebrate his remarkable achievement.
