Girls outshine boys in class 9th exams

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi has announced the results of the annual class 9 board examinations. BISE Chairman Adnan Khan and Controller of Examination Tanveer Asghar Awan released the results during a press briefing on Friday.

Once again, girls outperformed boys. A total of 125,715 candidates registered for the exams while 123,790 appeared. Among them, 61,289 were boys and 62,501 were girls. The overall pass rate stood at 45.84%, with 56.84% of girls passing compared to 34.63% of boys. Out of the total candidates, 56,749 passed, 67,034 failed, and 1,622 were absent.

BISE Chairman Adnan Khan praised the efforts of Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, former Controller Professor Sajid Mehmood Farooqui, and the entire team for their hard work in releasing the results on time. He emphasised that merit and transparency were upheld in the process, with a fully digital and online examination system ensuring fairness. The results have been published on the board's website, and students have been informed via SMS.

All successful candidates have been promoted to 10th grade. However, those who failed will be required to retake their 9th-grade compartment papers alongside their 10th-grade exams next year.
