‘Will not apologise’: Actress Ushna Shah responds to criticism on clothing

Ushna highlights how her Canadian upbringing and marriage to a liberal, like-minded white man is different

Pakistani actress Ushna Shah recently expressed that while her husband has no issues with her clothing choices, it is the Pakistani public that becomes disturbed.

Taking up the issue on her Instagram account, the actress revealed that she was raised in Canada, noting that her upbringing is different from that in Pakistan, and mentioned that she married a white man who, like her, has a liberal and open-minded perspective.

She further emphasized that her husband has never had an issue with her wearing "short outfits", nor with her showing her legs abroad, but it’s the Pakistani public that reacts negatively to such pictures.

"A girl from a liberal background, who grew up in Canada & wore shorts etc with her friends is now married to a white man who is from a similar background & doesn’t care if she shows her legs when they’re abroad," she wrote on her Instagram story.

Ushna further criticised her detractors, calling out their hypocrisy. Ushna highlighted the irony that while Pakistanis enjoy watching Nargis Fakhri's item songs and dancing to them, they are quick to criticise her for similar clothing choices.

"The biggest mistake I ever made was apologising for wearing a red choli on my wedding & dancing," the actress stated.

She concluded by stating that she will live life on her own terms, will not apologise for her clothing choices, and will no longer be intimidated by or address the hypocrisy of Pakistanis, whether they watch item songs or search for adult content.
