Travis Kelce concerned for Taylor Swift after Vienna Eras Tour concert terrorist threat
Travis Kelce is concerned for his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, after a terrorist attack was nearly carried out at one of her Eras Tour concerts in Vienna, Austria.
"He’s very concerned," a source exclusively shared with us on Thursday, noting that the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs player "immediately" reached out to Swift, also 34, upon hearing the news, according to Page Six.
However, reports indicate that Kelce has no immediate plans to fly to Europe to be by the "You Belong With Me" singer’s side due to his NFL obligations.
The Chiefs tight end and his teammates are currently in training camp, preparing for the 2024 football season, which starts on September 5.
On Wednesday, Austrian authorities arrested two suspects who were allegedly plotting to target Swift’s Eras Tour.
The unidentified 19-year-old and 17-year-old are said to have been radicalized by ISIS online and reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State as recently as July.
According to Austrian news outlet Kronen Zeitung, police raided one of the teen's homes, where he lived with his parents, and discovered various chemicals and substances.
More details about the planned terrorist attack emerged on Thursday, revealing that the two young men allegedly intended to drive a car loaded with explosives into the crowd at Ernst Happel Stadium to cause mass casualties.
Officials stated that the teens were hired to work security at the venue and allegedly planned to kill concertgoers using homemade explosives and machetes.
The suspects remain in police custody, but Swift’s team decided to take precautions by canceling all three of her upcoming shows in Vienna this weekend, which were scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
“With confirmation from the government officials of a planned terrorist attack … we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety,” concert organizer Barracuda Music wrote via Instagram on Wednesday.
