Alongside her model husband, Lucky Blue Smith, Nara discussed the complexities of their online perception and the unintended consequences of their internet fame.
The influencer, whose videos include making everything from grilled cheese to homemade bubblegum, reflected on the surge of negative attention that escalated with her announcement of being pregnant with her third child, Whimsy Lou.
"People on Twitter had a field day, hating on us. I'd get screenshots of people saying insanely rude things — so hateful, and so spiteful," Nara told GQ.
Despite the backlash, she believes the controversy may have inadvertently boosted her profile.
Addressing criticisms of perpetuating outdated gender roles, Nara clarified her perspective on their family dynamics: "It's not so much about: Oh, I need to make my husband a meal right now, or else he's going to be mad," she said.
"He does cleanup. Which I'm grateful for, because I hate that part." Lucky Blue Smith added, "I view our situation as a big partnership in every aspect of our lives."
