Blake Lively allegedly used ‘influence’ to overrule Justin Baldoni’s edit in It Ends With Us

Sources noted that Lively has a massive ego, and Hollywood often has a way of rewarding that.

It seems there's some tension between "It Ends With Us" star Blake Lively and her director and co-star Justin Baldoni, who has been noticeably absent from much of the film's promotional activities.

Social media users have pointed out that the cast avoided taking photos with him at the recent premiere.

The root of the issue appears to be a classic disagreement in the editing room.

According to multiple sources (via TheInSneider), there were reportedly two different versions of the film.

Despite Baldoni's edit receiving better feedback from test audiences, Lively supposedly took control of the final cut.

So how did she manage to do this? It appears that her influential husband, Ryan Reynolds—Deadpool himself—stepped in, befriending author Colleen Hoover to ensure their version of the film prevailed.

As a result, “[Justin] Baldoni and Blake [Lively] hate each other,” according to Sneider’s sources.

They also noted that Lively has a massive ego, and Hollywood often has a way of rewarding that.

“It’s wild that the cast would shun Justin and not do press with him. It makes no sense because he’s the only one acting professional,” a second source commented.

Baldoni, known for directing "Five Feet Apart" (2019) and "Clouds" (2020), and for his role in the CW series "Jane the Virgin," has found himself in an unfortunate situation with this latest project. It's disappointing to see him caught in a clash of egos—he deserved better.

As a result, "It Ends With Us" has garnered mixed reviews from critics. There could be a push for #ReleaseTheBaldoniCut on social media.

Despite this, the film is expected to have a strong opening weekend with an estimated $25 million, thanks to the novel's dedicated fanbase.

“It Ends With Us,” produced by Sony, is adapted from Colleen Hoover's bestselling romance novel.

The film was produced by Blake Lively and features Justin Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, and Kevin McKidd in supporting roles.
