Sindh government and governor honour Arshad Nadeem with cash reward for Olympic gold

The Sindh government and Governor Kamran Tessori have announced separate yet significant cash rewards for Arshad Nadeem, who made history by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in the men’s javelin throw event.

Governor Tessori pledged 1 million rupees, while the Sindh government declared a 50 million rupee reward in recognition of Nadeem’s outstanding performance.

Governor Tessori congratulated Nadeem on his remarkable achievement, praising his record-setting throw of 92.97 meters, which broke the 118-year-old Olympic record.

He highlighted that Nadeem’s gold medal win has fulfilled Pakistan’s long-standing dream of Olympic gold, bringing immense pride and joy to the entire nation.

Murtaza Wahab, the Mayor of Karachi and spokesperson for the Sindh government, also lauded Nadeem’s achievement, commending him for elevating Pakistan’s name on the global stage. Wahab emphasized that Nadeem’s record-breaking performance in the javelin throw final is a moment of great pride for the country.

It is worth noting that Pakistan last stood on the Olympic podium on August 8, 1992, with a bronze medal, and the country’s last gold medal was won in hockey in 1984. Arshad Nadeem’s historic victory has now ended this long medal drought, bringing immense pride to the nation.
