SHC summons federal secretary in missing person's case

HYDERABAD:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned Federal Secretary Defence Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Chiragh Haider to attend the next hearing of a missing person's case on August 28.

On Thursday, the Hyderabad Circuit Bench ordered that the Defence Secretary must provide an affidavit on oath, affirming that the alleged detainee, Sarwech Noohani, is not in the custody of any law enforcement agency.

The court's order stated, "The Defence Secretary should attend with a comprehensive report and affidavit confirming that the alleged detainee is not in the custody of any law enforcement agency under his command."

Additionally, DIG Hyderabad Dr. Tariq Razzak Dharejo has been put on notice to appear in person with a progress report, along with the CIA In-charge who was stationed in Jamshoro district at the relevant time.

Sarwech Noohani and Amar Fayaz were allegedly abducted separately from their residence in Sindh University Colony, Jamshoro, on November 9 and 8, 2020, respectively.
