Actor Gabriel Olds arrested for multiple sexual assault charges

Hollywood actor Gabriel Olds has been arrested and booked on suspicion of rape. 

Olds, 52, known for his role as Pat Robertson in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” alongside Jessica Chastain, and for appearances on “The Rookie: Feds” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” was charged with seven felony counts of sexual assault on 19 July, authorities announced on Wednesday.

The charges stem from allegations made by several women who reported that consensual dates with Olds turned violent. The alleged incidents span a decade, from 2013 to 2023, according to KTLA.

Olds, a Yale University graduate, is accused of leveraging his Ivy League education and Hollywood status to place women in vulnerable positions. The Los Angeles Police Department stated that each victim described being lured into a false sense of security before Olds became violent without seeking consent.

The first report was made on 19 January 2023, by a 41-year-old woman who claimed Olds raped her at her LA home. Subsequently, two more women came forward with similar accusations, dating back to 2013. Police noted that several women reported meeting Olds through dating apps, suggesting there may be additional victims.

LAPD Detective Brent Hopkins remarked, “We heard the same story again and again. Mr. Olds started off charming but then used brutal violence to carry out these rapes. Some survivors suffered in silence for years before speaking up. Now that he’s off the streets, we want to ensure everyone has a chance to be heard.”

Police have identified three women who were assaulted and two others who experienced less violent conduct.
