A recent survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan has highlighted notable trends in social media usage across the country.

According to the survey, approximately 40% of adult Pakistanis, including two-thirds of individuals under the age of 30, actively use social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.

The survey also indicates a significant gender gap in social media usage, with men utilizing these platforms at a rate 10% higher than women.

Additionally, the findings reveal that younger individuals, particularly those born in 1994 or later, are much more engaged with social media compared to the national average.

This survey is part of a series by Gallup Pakistan examining public behaviour and trends in social media usage. Respondents were asked whether they use social media apps like TikTok, Facebook, or Instagram or hold an account on these platforms.

Of those surveyed, 40% affirmed they use social media, while 60% reported they do not.

Earlier statistics released by DataReportal and NapoleonCat corroborate showed that Facebook had approximately 47.35 million users in Pakistan in July 2024.

Similarly, Instagram had 17.30 million users, representing 8.1% of the population. TikTok also had a notable presence, with 54.38 million users aged 18 and above, accounting for 38.9% of the adult population
