Sindh govt, NAB join hands to restore forestland

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and NAB Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed have initiated a collaborative effort between the provincial government and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to combat corruption and restore forestland.

The collaboration aims to cancel unauthorised agro-forestry leases, remove encroachments, and demarcate forestland.

DG NAB Karachi, Javed Akbar Riaz, highlighted the successful cancellation of unauthorised leases and the retrieval of 1.8 million acres of forestland, valued at Rs3.6 trillion. The Sindh CM and NAB Chairman agreed to resolve remaining issues related to the forestland within three months.

WB team reviews progress on projects

CM Murad Ali Shah and the World Bank high power team led by the Country Director Najy Benhassine reviewed the overall progress of World Bank-assisted 14 projects of $3.4 billion and agreed to remove the bottleneck that exists and speed up the slow pace projects for their timely completion.

Karachi Mobility Project (KMP) aims to enhance mobility with two bridges (Jam Sadiq Bridges) for the Yellow Line BRT. Financial bids opened in April 2024, and contract signing is expected next week.
