CM orders free Wi-Fi at 250 spots

Service operating at 5 spots in Nankana Sahib, 10 in Kasur

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to start free Wi-Fi service at 250 more places in Lahore.

The Punjab government has launched a free Wi-Fi service in Nankana Sahib after Lahore and Kasur. According to a statement, the service is operational at five locations in Nankana Sahib in Phase-I. The locations include Masjid Chowk, Tehsil Mor, Kachhari Phatak and railway station.

The chief minister said, "More than 25,000 citizens will benefit from the service in Nankana Sahib." She added,"

In four weeks, citizens of Nankana have used 250GB of data from the CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi service.

The chief minister said, "The use of free internet service by more than five million citizens in Lahore is a proof of its success."

The Safe City Free Wi-Fi service is available at 10 locations in Kasur, including DHQ hospital, women's college, new bus terminal, railway station, model bazaar, DC office and Bank Chowk.

The CM directed the authorities to start the service at 20 more points in Kasur.

She said the Safe Cities system would soon be functional in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

"By the end of this year, Safe City Authority will be established in 18 cities," she added.

She highlighted hat women and students would also be able to get help in emergency situations through the free internet service.
