Luxury car feud leads to alleged patricide

.Qasim had followed his father on the day of the murder

LAHORE:

A dispute over a luxury car worth Rs130 million allegedly led to the orchestrated murder of Dr Shahid Siddiqui, a founding member of PTI and the owner of a private hospital, by his own son.

Qasim Shahid, Dr Siddiqui's son, is currently in the custody of the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) after police collected substantial evidence against him. According to initial investigations, Qasim had followed his father on the day of the murder, including to the bank where Dr Siddiqui withdrew a significant amount of money.

The original plan, as suggested by the investigation, was to stage the attack on the way back from the bank to make it appear as a robbery gone wrong.

However, when the suspected shooter failed to carry out the attack, Qasim instructed him to strike after Dr.

Siddiqui had offered Friday prayers. Evidence, including mobile communication between Qasim and the shooter and CCTV footage showing Qasim conducting reconnaissance on his father, has been collected by the police. It was also revealed that Qasim had argued with his father over the purchase of a luxury car, which he wanted to impress his girlfriend.

Despite his father's initial refusal, it was discovered that Dr Siddiqui had secretly booked the car as a surprise birthday gift for Qasim. Dr Siddiqui was murdered while returning home from Friday prayers.

Qasim was present at the scene and even led his father's funeral prayers, publicly calling for justice despite allegedly orchestrating the crime.
