Judge’s daughter secures bail in road accident case

The Court of Duty Magistrate Kamran Zaheer Abbasi has cancelled the arrest warrants for Shanzay Malik, the daughter of a judge, and approved her bail against a surety bond of Rs30,000. The case, concerning Shakeel Tanoli, who was killed in a vehicle collision within the jurisdiction of Khanna Police Station, was heard in the Islamabad District and Session Courts.

Malik, accompanied by her lawyer Muhammad Siddique Awan, appeared in court and requested the cancellation of the non-bailable arrest warrants and the amendment of the charges against her. She stated that the case against her involved charges of speeding and attempted murder.

The Lahore High Court had granted her protective bail considering the charges.

Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas raised objections regarding the magistrate’s jurisdiction. Magistrate Abbasi noted that the Lahore High Court had granted protective bail to accused Shanzay Malik. According to the Lahore High Court’s decision, Malik holds a driving license and the charges of speeding are bailable.

The court granted bail to Shanzay Malik against a surety bond of Rs30,000, cancelled the arrest warrants, and reserved the decision on the amendment of the charges.
