Two killed in parking mafia clash

KARACHI:

A turf dispute between two gangs of parking mafia claimed two lives and left one person injured in the Machhar Colony slum on Tuesday.

The Zaman Gang ang the Najib-Mujib Gang were on loggerheads over the control of parking the trucks coming to the weighbridge in the Machhar Colony.

The weighbridge is strategically located near the Karachi Port as well as the entry-exit point of Sindh-Balochistan interprovincial traffic.

According to police, three persons were seriously injured when armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the opponent group in Machhar Colony, within the limits of Docks police station.

Keamari district police chief SSP Faizan Ali told the media that tensions were brewing up between the two groups.

On Tuesday, armed suspects belonging to the Zaman group fired indiscriminately on Najib-Mujib group, as a result, three persons sustained serious injuries. Two of them in critical condition, were rushed to the hospital, however, they died on the way.

Docks police station SHO Nafeesur Rehman said that the armed accused fled after committing the crime. The police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

Meanwhile, during another dispute in Bilal Colony, one person was injured in the gunfire.

The incident occurred between Monday and Tuesday night near Bilal Colony Pakhtun Chowk in the Korangi Industrial Area.
