Pakistani students shine at International Chemistry Olympiad

Team wins bronze medal for the country at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO) in Riyadh

Pakistan team won a bronze medal at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 21 to 30.

Abdul Rafay from Karachi Grammar School earned the bronze medal for Pakistan. Team members included Mahnoor Rashid (Lahore Grammar School, Wah Cantt), Marva (Punjab College for Women, Faisalabad), and Syed Mehir Ali Shah (Dubai International Public School and College, Mansehra).

The team was trained at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, under the guidance of National Chemistry Talent Contest (NCTC) coordinator and senior professor of University of Karachi, Prof. M. Khalid Khan, and Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah.

During a meeting at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah and Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Khan congratulated the students and acknowledged the support of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in enabling Pakistani students to participate in international chemistry competitions.

Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Head of ICCBS University Karachi, presided over the meeting and praised the students' achievement.
