Blake Lively plays Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine, inspired by her Gossip Girl role. The revelation highlights a decade-long connection.

In the film Deadpool & Wolverine, actress Blake Lively is revealed to play Lady Deadpool, a character inspired by her Gossip Girl role. The movie, which features several cameos, introduces the Deadpool Corps, including variants like Nicepool, Babypool, Dogpool, Kidpool, Cowboy Deadpool, Headpool, and Lady Deadpool. Despite Lady Deadpool never removing her mask, the credits confirm Lively's role, which she elaborated on in an Instagram post.

Lively shared her journey to becoming Lady Deadpool, highlighting a connection dating back to 2010. During the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, Lively wore a blood-red satin catsuit resembling Deadpool’s suit and recalled her work with husband Ryan Reynolds on The Green Lantern in 2010. "He told me, our other costar, another superhero newbie [Taika Waititi], and all of us about [Deadpool] for the first time," Lively wrote. She noted that Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld drew an unmasked Lady Deadpool inspired by her character Serena Van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl in 2010, long before the movie's production.

Liefeld also confirmed the inspiration behind Lady Deadpool in his own Instagram post. He mentioned that Marvel asked him to introduce Lady Deadpool in 2009 and that he modeled the character after Lively, who was then starring in Gossip Girl. "My wife and I never missed Gossip Girl, Team Serena all the way, so I gave her the blonde hair and modeled her after [Blake Lively]," Liefeld explained. He also expressed joy at seeing Lady Deadpool come to life on screen, describing the experience as "tears of joy" and a "dream come true."

Lively praised director Shawn Levy for his vision and thanked him for including her in the project. She concluded her post with excitement about the film, stating, "What a ride you're all in for," signing as LP. Liefeld echoed her sentiments, noting the emotional significance of seeing the character on screen.
