Novak Djokovic flaunts Olympic gold medal at star-studded Paris celebration

Novak Djokovic proudly showcased his new Olympic gold medal during a celebratory evening at Le Siena Restaurant in Paris. 

The Serbian tennis star, who clinched his first Olympic gold in the men’s singles on Sunday, wore the medal around his neck, marking a monumental moment in his illustrious career.

Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam titleholder and previous Olympic bronze medalist, secured the gold with a two-set victory over Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, winning 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) on the Paris clay. 

This victory fulfilled his long-held dream and checked off one of the last achievements missing from his career.

The 37-year-old became the fifth player to complete the Golden Slam — winning all four major tournaments and an Olympic gold — joining legends like Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams. 

“Arguably the biggest success I’ve ever had,” Djokovic said on Peacock’s broadcast. 

“It’s been a blessing for me. I’m super-grateful to win a historic gold medal for my country, to complete the Golden Slam, to complete all the records.”

After his win, Djokovic was seen sobbing into a towel before proudly raising his country’s flag and climbing into the stands at Court Philippe-Chatrier to celebrate. 

“I put my heart, my soul, my body, my family — my everything — on the line to win Olympic gold,” Djokovic told reporters. “Incredible battle, incredible fight.”

Djokovic previously won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games but fell short in London, Rio, and Tokyo. 

Entering the Paris Games as the No.1 seed, he won every set in all six of his matches, a feat worth celebrating. 

The celebration reportedly included British actor Damson Idris and USA men’s basketball star Jayson Tatum.
