KARACHI:

The people and the government of Sindh stood in solidarity with the oppressed people of Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to observe Youm-e-Istehsal or the Day of Oppression on Monday.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that on August 5, 2019, the special status of IIOJK was illegally abolished by India.

By denying IIOJK status of disputed territory, India had openly violated UN resolutions and international laws, CM Murad said. He said that the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in IIOJK exposed India's hideous face.

"A peaceful and just solution lies only in the right to self-determination," said Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The Senior Minister said five years ago, by taking away the special status of IIOJK, Indian tried to suppress the voices and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab said Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has also organized a rally, representing the people of Karachi, to convey the message to the world that the people of Karachi stand with their Kashmiri brothers in their struggle for the right to self-determination and will always support their legitimate rights.
