Man detained for killing stepbrothers dies
A man died of a heart attack in police custody after being detained on then suspicion of murdering his two elder stepbrothers over a dispute.
The police had arrested the suspect, Munir Ahmed, along with the murder weapons.
The resident of Sherazabad had reportedly killed his stepbrother Nasir Hussain by shooting him three times in the head with a pistol over a dispute following rejection of a marriage proposal.
The suspect reportedly wanted his son to marry the daughter of the victim.
His other brother, Qaiser Abbas, fled into the street after the firing, but the suspect chased him and stabbed him to death with a dagger.
The police arrested the suspect and seized the 30-bore pistol and the dagger from him.
While the police were still investigating the case, the suspect Munir fell ill in the lockup.
The police took him to the Rural Health Centre in the Abdul Hakeem area, where he suffered a heart attack during treatment and died.
The police said an autopsy was being conducted.
According to local sources, a dispute had been ongoing between suspect and his stepbrother over the proposal for the marriage of their children.
