Wesley Snipes Breaks Two Guinness World Records with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameo

Wesley Snipes returned as Blade in the new film, which debuted 25 years after his first appearance in Blade.

Wesley Snipes has made headlines by breaking two Guinness World Records with his recent cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. The 62-year-old actor, famous for his role as Blade, has set new records for the "Longest Career as a Live-Action Marvel Character" and the "Longest Gap Between Character Appearances in Marvel Films."

Snipes’ return as Blade in the new film, which debuted 25 years and 340 days after his first appearance in Blade (1998), surpassed Hugh Jackman's record for the longest Marvel character career. Additionally, Snipes broke the record for the longest gap between appearances, having last played Blade in Blade: Trinity (2004), which was 19 years and 231 days before Deadpool & Wolverine.

The actor expressed his surprise and excitement on X (formerly Twitter), posting, "Whuuuut?! Really? Do I get a certificate too? Lordy Lordy Lordy… Thank you @guinnessworldrecords, I'm your fan!"

Snipes' return as Blade was a notable moment at Comic-Con 2024, where he joined other A-list cameos in the film. Despite his MCU comeback, Snipes will not appear in the upcoming Blade reboot, which will feature Mahershala Ali in the lead role.

Snipes revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he was initially skeptical about returning to the role but was persuaded by Ryan Reynolds. "I didn't think we would be able to pull it off," Snipes said, reflecting on his surprise return.
