The social media star became emotional and cried during her nearly four-minute apology video.

Brooke's recent videos received comments from her followers criticizing her for the tweets.

She responded to a fan's comment stating, "people are allowed to be hurt by her words, especially those it was targeted at. It's not a non-POC's place to forgive her and defend her 'growth.' People can be hurt."

Brooke admitted that while she has advocated for accountability on her account, she has not followed her own advice.

"You have probably seen the tweets that have been floating around. They are not fake. Those are real things that I said," she explained.

"I want to acknowledge that I feel the same way about them that you do. I think they are so disturbing. They're wrong. They're horrible and they're disgusting."

Brooke acknowledged her appreciation for those defending her but noted that it doesn’t change the fact that the tweets are "horrible."

She mentioned that she was trying to hold back tears and was sniffling throughout the entire video.

The TikToker revealed that she was adopted by her grandparents at age 10, and their perspectives had an impact on her.

"My parents were addicts so I was adopted by my grandparents when I was 10 and as is true for a lot of grandparents, they are a little bit less progressive than a lot of us are now."

She also elaborated on her grandfather: "He is a very, very right-wing conservative man. My household was literally Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, all the time and that was the only thing that I was exposed to."

Brooke  then informed her followers that she made those comments when she was 18, and she didn’t change her mindset until after college.

"Obviously a lot of it is just like 'why would I even say that?'" she went on.

"I also apologize for not saying something sooner. I was getting these messages from people who were hurt by them and I felt like by bringing more attention to it, I'd be hurting more people."

"I am 27 years old now and I have had a lot of time to form my own opinions and they are nothing like they were when I was 17, 18 years old."

By the end, her eyes were filled with tears.

The pop culture account Pop Crave on X shared Brooke’s tweets from 2012 to 2015.

One of the posts included her defending George Zimmerman for the killing of Trayvon Martin, a point she admitted in her video.

She also tweeted about having "nappy hair" and used racist slurs in a movie theater.

Brooke boasts over 2 million followers on TikTok and is the host of the podcast Canceled with Tana Mongeau.
