Laptops given to 65 children of police martyrs

LAHORE:

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar distributed 65 laptops among children of police martyrs with excellent academic performance at a ceremony organised to mark the Police Martyrs’ Day.

The children of police martyrs were also given bicycles and other gifts.

The IG said the peace is owed to the unparalleled sacrifices of the personnel.

He said Rs10 million would be paid to 100 ghazi police officers who had stood firm in the line of duty against bullets.

Candles were lit at the Martyrs’ Memorial in the Police Training College.

Similar ceremonies were held in all districts of the province to mark the day. Police contingents presented salute at the memorials and graves of the martyrs. Floral wreaths were laid on the graves and prayers were offered.

Rallies were also organised to express solidarity with the families of the martyrs in various districts.

The IGP said 1,638 martyrs of the Punjab Police had sacrificed their lives for protecting the citizens and their properties, maintaining peace and fighting criminal elements.

“The police martyrs secured the nation’s future by sacrificing their present for their homeland,” he added.
